What are barefoot shoes?

Barefoot shoes are designed to mimic the feeling of walking barefoot while providing protection from the ground. They feature a wide toe box, a zero 'heel to toe' drop, and a thin, flexible sole, allowing for natural foot movement and improved sensory feedback. Barefoot shoes promote better posture, balance, and foot health by encouraging a more natural walking or running gait.

I'm new to barefoot shoes. What should I consider?

Wearing conventional shoes weakens the foot muscles. Therefore, if you're new to barefoot shoes, we recommend starting with short periods and distances when wearing your new JOAs. Gradually increase the duration and intensity over time to allow your muscles to adapt.

What are the extra insoles for?

Our shoes comes with an additional pair of 3mm thick insoles, offering an extra layer of cushioning.

The toe box seems narrow and not foot-shaped?

We're glad you asked. To achieve a more sleek design that doesn’t immediately scream 'barefoot shoe', we have extended the length of our shoes by 3-4 mm.

We understand the concern about the appearance, as the slight extension may give the shoes a less foot-shaped look. However, we want to reassure you that despite the extended length, the toe box is designed to be just as wide as other well-known barefoot brands.

How wide are your shoes?

Our shoes feature a wide toe box compared to conventional shoes.

However, when compared to other barefoot brands, they typically fall within the narrow to medium width range.

How do I find my correct size in JOAs?

Our shoes tend to fit on the smaller side. You can find your correct size by following our size guide.

Why do you recommend extra space in front of the toes?

You need additional room in front of the toes for wiggle room. Moreover, our shoes feature an extended length of 3-4 mm allowing for a more tapered toe box. Therefore, it is very important to have that extra space. We recommend 1.0 to 1.5 cm.

How do I track my order?

Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number.

What are the shipping costs?

We offer free worldwide shipping on all orders.

What is the delivery time?

Please note that delivery times are estimations and not guarantees. We do not take responsibility for orders held in transit or customs. All estimated delivery times begin from the date of shipment. During peak sales periods, please allow an additional day or two for order processing.

Returns & exchanges

How do I make a return?

Click here to register a return.

You may return your goods within 30 days of receipt. To be eligible for a return, items must be in their original condition, unworn or unused, and include the original packaging. We recommend trying on items on a carpeted surface.

If your return is accepted, we will provide a return shipping label and instructions on how and where to send your package. Items returned without prior approval will not be accepted. Please note that international returns may experience longer shipping times.

Return Shipping Fees:

Denmark - 7 €
European Union - 25 €
Rest of the world - 40 €

The cost of the prepaid shipping label will be deducted from your refund.

How do I make an exchange?

For faster service, return the item you have for a refund and place a new order for the desired item. Free exchanges are available within the EU, which means that the return shipping fee will not be deducted from your refund.

When do I get my refund?

Once we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you if the refund was approved or not. If approved, refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 10 business days. Please allow additional time for your bank or credit card company to process the refund.

Taxes & duties

Within the EU

Prices shown on our website for customers in the European Union are inclusive of VAT.

Outside the EU

For customers outside of the European Union, prices are shown excluding VAT. Orders may be subject to VAT, import duties and/or taxes upon reaching your country. JOA ships your package according to Incoterm Duties At Place (DAP), meaning we do not collect VAT, duties, or taxes on orders outside the EU. Any additional charges incurred must be settled for customs clearance. JOA does not cover any such taxes, duties or related charges. Contact your local customs office for more information.

For unclaimed packages, all fees in connection with both delivery and the return delivery, including any taxes and duties, will be debited upon the handling of the return.

USA

Orders to the United States under $800 are exempt from customs declarations and import taxes, so the price you see at checkout is the final price.

For orders over $800, duties and taxes may apply depending on the region. Please contact your local tax office for more information.
